What are the benefits of art therapy? II.

Creative activity in itself has a stress-relieving, calming and healing effect. During its process, a deeper conversation, openness, and receptivity develop. Joyful creation, which is an uplifting activity. When this becomes regular, it can be a self-healing activity.

A resilient resilience to everyday obligations or unexpected obstacles develops. For example, we draw the negative charge out of ourselves and then scribble and tear it up.

Drawing by hand creates a more direct relationship between the creator and his creation. This painting method is very popular with children. We paint by hand on a wrapping paper with an adhesive paint paste. You can paint with 2 hands at the same time. Movements coordinate the activities of the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Anxious children can paint for half an hour. They can completely dissolve in it. Hyperactive children can moderate their temper.

An example of self-expression: we can make a grid structure with a felt pen on wrapping paper. We discover some form in the line network. This develops creativity, spatial vision, and compositional skills.

In paired painting, the participants choose from the basic colors. One draws a line, the other continues. They must connect to each other's lines. This leads to better self-awareness. For example, it doesn't matter how I react. And what kind of effect does it have on me when the other person paints over my color.

Let's look at a real problem: One of the main difficulties in the classroom is the effect of vision on learning. Children struggle with visual stimulation. They are unable to focus for long periods of time. There is a lot of information around them that they have to process. Students cannot filter out what is necessary for the given task. Their eyes don't know where to focus, which is a real challenge. We develop vision and strengthen the ability to concentrate.

And finally, we will look at some development opportunities in the next one!

Stay tuned!
