Thoughts on security

Recently, a dear friend of mine approached me in complete despair because he lost everything. I couldn’t do much because I can’t give him back his values, but after a word or two of encouragement I let him go, I want to believe I helped him.

After the conversation, I thought very much about how much we all want security. But what is it anyway? A concept, an experience built by our mind. We collect our money because we feel it gives us security when we have money set aside and we have something to reach in emergency. But anything can come at any time that makes it disappeared. We have experienced this in our live, our working capital was completely gone. Some people surround themselves with different objects and equipment because that makes them feel good, that makes them feel safe but in the meantime they don’t even realize what kind of barriers and addictions they are creating for themselves.

Here is the definition of "security" itself:

Trust in life, along with a willingness to help all areas of life survive. This is one’s self-confidence in achieving one’s own goals in all areas of life.

According to them, we should look for this in our self-core, not in external things.

Is it interesting and thought-provoking right?

The next day I was confronted with a quote:

"Every change in life requires courage! Many are incapable of change because they strive for security, even if it costs an unhappy life."

And really, a lot of people don’t dare to change because they’re so concerned about security, so they’re actually afraid to step in, afraid of the new, what it can bring them, because what if it’s worse than what it is now? And a lot of people are unfortunately stuck in life situations, relationships, or even jobs because of these fears. What an interesting expression this is: I have a secure job. Does it mean moving forward? After all, everyone in life wants to move forward: to move towards their own goals. Whether it’s a small car or a huge, good car, a tiny house in the countryside or even a marvellous palace.

I say whatever it is: let us have faith! Believe in our self-core first, that we are able to create what we want is the foundation of self-confidence. And let us also believe that we deserve the good life we can only imagine!
